Web Design: Best way to help a client edit their web pages without much I.C.T knowledge?

Question by Mike: Web Design: Best way to help a client edit their web pages without much I.C.T knowledge?
Hi all,

I’m thinking of trying my hand at web design as I’m ok with html/css etc but I was wondering how web designers get their clients to edit their own pages. I tried installing WordPress (so they can use the UI there) on a local server (Xampp) but I find the service a little too blog-orientated. Anyone know of simple/free visual HTML Editors/FTP which aren’t too daunting for the non-technical minded.

Thanks.

If you’re looking to go into web design, I’d concentrate more on finding a solution that fits your client’s needs instead of trying to program/code something yourself. There are many companies that provide the back-end systems to fit just about any client need.

For your question, I would look for companies that provide a Content Management System incorporated into their hosting service. These companies provide more than enough features and scalability to provide your client the needed look, feel, and functionality.

Take a look at www.speaklight.com or www.aroradesigns.com. If you look further, I’m sure there’s plenty more companies like these to choose from.

Q&A: What is the best free html editor that has a visual edit option, and easy to use for a newcomer to web design?

Question by wondering: What is the best free html editor that has a visual edit option, and easy to use for a newcomer to web design?
I am new to building a website and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best free html editor is. I need one that has a visual option so I can see what i am changing. Like a design view on Microsoft Front Page. Also if anyone has any hints on building websites for a newcomer I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

Try Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express (it’s like Frontpage, but newer, better, and free)
